Verso is an independent bookshop with bar founded and inaugurated in 2015 in Milan, in the heart of the city, in the so called Ticinese area, next to the Columns of San Lorenzo. With two floors and 12,000 titles, it immediately became a new meeting point for lovers of books and culture.
Verso was settled by a group of friends who grew up between bookstores and clubs, who have gained years of different experiences along the entire publishing chain: Andrea Gessner, publisher of the night; Pietro Biancardi, director of Iperborea; Tomaso Biancardi (Iperborea); Alessandro Beretta, literary critic, writer, director of the Milano Film Festival; Lisa Sacerdote, photo editor and author of photographic projects.
The bookshop is run by Davide Mosca, writer, together with a team of young booksellers.
The basic inspiration is that of a library-laboratory that offers reading itineraries, meeting opportunities and a meeting space around the world of books.
Verso’s offer is realized in a careful selection of quality independent publishing brands present with a wide catalog and in a range of mainstream news.
One room is reserved for children’s literature. Many illustrated books of independent and selected publishing houses, but also fiction and curious books. Activities and workshops are periodically organized for children and teenagers.
The beating heart of Verso’s business are events and appointments. Every evening, since its opening, the room on the first floor is transformed into an event space and it is possible to attend free of charge book presentations, meetings with publishers, thematic meetings and parties always around the world of books, and beyond.
To complete the Verso offer there is also a bar inside the bookshop.
Since 2020 #versopedala, the home delivery and shipping service for books throughout Italy, has been active.
